Bioscrypt to Present Biometric Physical and Logical Access Control Solutions at 2006 Biometric Technology Expo
Industry innovator has been chosen to present four program topics addressing the latest trends in research, development and application of biometric technologies at Biometric Consortium Conference
Toronto , ON (September 14, 2006) - Bioscrypt Inc. (TSX: BYT), a leading provider of identity verification technology, announced today that it will be exhibiting the latest in biometric physical and logical access control solutions at the Biometric Technology Expo, the pre-eminent biometrics event of the year. The company will also share its views on a range of topics relating to the latest trends in research, development and application of biometric technologies at the associated Biometrics Consortium Conference.
From September 19th to 21st, Bioscrypt will display a number of physical access control (access to buildings) readers from its Veri-Series product line; the latest in its VeriSoft software application for logical access control (access to computers); and the integrated physical and logical access control solution which forms the foundation of its Door to Desktop® technology. Bioscrypt will be located at booth #422.
In addition to exhibiting at the Biometric Technology Expo, Bioscrypt has a number of speaking engagements at the associated Biometrics Consortium Conference.
On Tuesday the 19th, Robert L. Williams, President and CEO of Bioscrypt, will participate in the Commercial Biometric Solutions Panel to discuss the trend towards the use of biometrics to unify access control across the organization, specifically the convergence of physical and logical access control.
On Wednesday September 20th, Dr. Colin Soutar, CTO of Bioscrypt, will be among the thought leaders on the Biometrics in E-Authentication Panel which will discuss concepts and architectures used for typical biometric deployments. Biometric system components will be identified and defined, and the important interfaces between biometric systems and other security components will be presented.
Later in the E-Authentication Panel, Dr. Soutar will focus on the topic of biometric integrity versus secrecy. The discussion will cover traditional concepts of security, including confidentiality, integrity and availability, and how these concepts apply to biometric data. This session will also cover the role that the biometric data plays in an overall security system and an analysis of data integrity and security implications.
On Thursday the 21st, Dr. Soutar will participate in the International Biometrics Industry Association (IBIA) session and will speak on the subject of biometrics, contactless cards and FIPS 201. Within the normative and informative constraints of FIPS 201, a number of multi-factor authentication scenarios can be considered for biometric physical access control applications. Dr. Soutar will present several scenarios using the contactless interface of the PIV card to access the PIV Card CHUID and biometric templates. These scenarios are considered in relation to several key implementation attributes, including throughput, durability, ease of use, and security.
